The success of
the PowerSki Jetboard is credited to the PSA engineers meeting a specific
challenge - higher horsepower from a smaller engine. The Ignighter 2000 PowerSki
Jetboard is a breakthrough due to its proprietary, high-performance,
state-of-the-art engine, created by Bob Montogomery and PSI engine designer
Bjorn Elvin. Light and compact, the engine replaces the converted motors used in
the "Waterworld" prototypes.
Explained Montgomery, "In personal watercraft, the favorable power-to-weight
ratio of the engine is key. The new engine's mechanical simplicity and high
power output not only make it ideal for the needs of Jetboarding, its compact
size makes possible the PowerSki Jetboard's slim profile necessary to pull off
those great, carving G-Force turns. This engine takes this craft to a new level
of sophistication and performance required for acceptance in the mass market
today."
Style by Montgomery with its "Torpedo-like" qualities, the single-cylinder,
forward-mounted PowerSki Jetboard engine has a proprietor, dedicated
transmission - "the first ever available in a watercraft," according to
Montgomery. Engine dimensions: 6.5in.(H)-x-10in.(W)-x-20.5in(L)

The PowerSki Jetboard igniter 2000 is a rider/craft system that deals with
five significant natural forces: weight, buoyancy, hydrodynamic lift, drag, and
thrust. The PowerSki Jetboard proprietary patent pending engine touts such award
winning features as the first personal watercraft engine with a gear reduction
transmission, an incredible horsepower to weight ratio and a compact
configuration unmatched by any existing watercraft engine.
The
PowerSki Jetboard patented technology has received such awards as, Popular
Mechanics Design and Engineering Award for the new Millennium and a Finalist in
Design News' - Excellence in Design Award.
Using a unique composite aluminum die cast manufacturing process, the overall
engine weight is approximately 30 pounds with horsepower capabilities on both 2
and 4 stroke engines ranging from 25 - 55 hp/ All of this with an overall height
of just 6.5 inches.
The Jetboard and proprietary engine have been created by using some of the
most advanced technologies available today such as Pro/ENGINEER software by PTC
and Compaq Professional Workstations.
